Theophilus London x Del Toro Available Now + Download “Rose Island” Mixtape

Musician, fashion trendsetter, and all around NYC cool kid, Theophilus London announced a special collaboration with Del Toro Shoes over the weekend. The Brooklyn musician has taken Del Toro’s fashionable slipper and has done what he does best- added his personal style to make it his own. A limited run of the “Theophilus London X Del Toro” slippers are available for $360.00 on

“I have been watching Del Toro for a bit now. I’ve always liked how a slipper can come off effortless and extremely stylish at the same time. In my travels back and forth to Miami I finally met the co-founder and Creative Director behind Del Toro Matthew Chevellard. He immediately got my vision and we knew we could make something really sexy together.” Theophilus began designing his slipper to match the lifestyle of his LVRS brand and flip the way slippers have traditionally been worn. The most notable feature of the Italian made slipper is the custom designed rose crest. The rose has been a theme and inspiration in Theophilus’ music and travels since the start of 2012. In January he commenced the “Tour de Roses” tour in the US and has since taken the show overseas to tour in Europe (he embarks on his 2nd European Run on July 6th). Other notable details on the slipper are the star emblems on the side of the shoe and the LVRS initials on the back.

Theophilus London X Del Toro is the artists second shoe collaboration. His first foray into shoe design was with COLE HAAN last year where he added a jazzy calypso blue color way to the brands legendary suede buck and made it his own. Theophilus also designed the infamous LVRS snapback with fresh.Iam in 2010. Stay tuned for more designs from Brooklyn’s best dressed in the future.

In addition to the new “Theophilus London X Del Toro” collaboration the artist has another special release on deck. The musician released “Rose Island Vol. 1”, his 4th mixtape project 12:01AM on Tuesday, July 3rd . This is his first mixtape project since the release of “I want You” in 2010. Theophilus has returned to his roots with the goal of getting back to the basics for the recording of “Rose Island Vol. 1.” In typical TL fashion, there’s something for everyone on “Rose Island Vol. 1” which is filled with hip hop bangers, electronic club tracks, sing along anthems and, of course, a couple slow jams for the ladies. Rose Island is an imaginary place in TL’s head where he goes when he needs to escape reality and time. Theophilus London is signed the Warner Bros Music and has also released “Timez Are Weird These Days” and “Times Are Weird These nights” with the label. The mixtape is available for free download HERE.

ABOUT THEOPHILUS LONDON: Brooklyn born musician Theophilus London was first most known from his self-starting music trajectory as well as from his style icon profiles in GQ, Esquire, Elle, NY Times, Complex, Fader and NME. After a series of wildly popular independent mixtape projects the artist released his debut LP “Timez Are Weird These Days” on Warner Bros Music label in July 2010. Theophilus will start writing his next LP this Fall but in the meantime is excited to share “Rose Island vol. 1” a free mixtape dedicated to his fans.

ABOUT DEL TORO SHOES: Del Toro Shoes is a luxury footwear and accessory brand based out of Miami, Florida. Originally a men’s brand, Del Toro now produces shoes for both men and women. Matthew Chevallard, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Del Toro Shoes, was born in Torino, Italy. Del Toro was founded in 2005 when Matthew was just 19 years old. He and his friends wanted to create customized velvet slippers for their boarding school graduation, but failed to find a pair that was affordable or one that took less than nine months to arrive. Del Toro was born, and sought to fill a void in the marketplace for affordable customized slippers.

From there, the collection evolved to include new styles such as drivers, wingtips, chukkas, sneakers, and espadrilles. Del Toro prides itself on offering a fresh take on classic silhouettes. All products are hand made on the Adriatic Coast of Italy, and are constructed of the finest Nappa leathers and velvets. Chevallard insists that his designs cater to “grown up sneaker heads.” He infuses his own personal style into every detail of his designs, which is evident by the unique details and compelling color combinations found throughout the collections.

Inspiration is drawn from a combination of Matthew’s Italian heritage, a Palm Beach prep aesthetic from his childhood, and edgy New York street style. The brand offers casual footwear for people who are seeking refined contemporary footwear and accessories.

Del Toro’s showroom and operations are headquartered at Ufficio Del Toro, located in The Wynwood Building in Miami. The lifestyle of Del Toro is certainly emulated by the atmosphere of Miami. Viva Del Toro.

thiophilus london-poplife-grand-central-miami-event-music

Tuesday, January 31st, 2011 Poplife and Grand Central Present: THEOPHILUS LONDON

via GC: Culture vultures and hardcore music fans alike know Theophilus from his self-starting music trajectory as well as from his style icon profiles from GQ to Esquire. His album Timez Are Weird raises the bar on everything that’s come before, moving past the comfort zone of sampledelia and oddball cover tunes into the dreamlike headspace of a globetrotting young artist blurring the lines between 80’s rap, new wave beats, freestyle noise and the snarling guitars of psychobilly surf rock.

This is an 18 + event.
