Saturday, January 19th, 1973 x adidas Originals launched the highly anticipated Superstar 80 Year Of The Snake as part of their inaugural event. One of the longest standing sport shops in Miami Beach, Mr R Sports brings us 1973. The store is a straight forward retail space with lots of possibilities. I can’t wait to see what 1973’s creative director Clyde Edwards (SneakerBoxClyde) has in the works. Click through for images.

Many events took place this weekend during Art Basel 2012 but if you’re part of the new Street Luxury Lifestyle one of the events not to missed was “THE RICH EVENT” with 40oz Van, Travie McCoy, Vintage Frames, Shred & Sew which took place at ATCMIA (Air Traffic Control) Boutique. Hennessy VS provided refreshments all night.

It was great to have in the same place some of the must influential forces of our culture at one time: William Yan, Ashley Outragious, Jasmine Solano, 40oz Van, Travie McCoy, Trinidad Jame$, Upscale Hype, Fashionsents (Sasha) and many more.

Welcome to this month’s Room Service where The Fashion Poet and I take you on a tour of one of Miami’s most fashionable hotels: Acqualina Resort & Spa. Nestled on 4 1/2 acres in Sunny Isles this oceanfront hotel also doubles up as residences. In fact, 188 of the rooms are residences and the other 98 are guest rooms and suites. If you’re looking for a hotel that feels right at home and is away from the South Beach scene, then you need to check in here. Wait it gets better… The Acqualina Spa By ESPA is also located within the hotel and they are renowned for having some of the best spa treatments. I got to try the ESPA ultimate anti-aging facial. Jennifer Lopez and Madonna are big fans of this treatment.

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which also had a den that featured a convertible twin size bed. We felt right at home since it was so spacious it felt like a home. The room totals 1430 sq. feet and comes with an oceanfront view terrace. The view was amazing; I truly enjoyed the sunset. That is my favorite time light of the day being that I’m a photographer. The room has a giant livingroom space, two flat-screen TVs, gourmet kitchen stocked with Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator/freezer so you can prepare home cooked meals, designer granite countertops, Italian limited-edition cabinets, a microwave and dishwasher. In the bathroom there’s a Jacuzzi whirlpool tub which I got to enjoy this time minus the bubble bath, glass-enclosed shower, marble flooring, double sinks and a custom vanity area. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back.

New Era “INTRODUCING” opened its doors last night. The show consisted of works by several creatives who used a New Era 59 Fifty fitted caps as a canvas or subject. Local artist Alexander Perez made it to the top 3 finalist of the United  States and some parts of Canada. The last 80 submissions have been selected as part of the traveling gallery and made part of the limited edition New Era INTRODUCING book. Don’t forget, one piece of work will be awarded a $10000 grant to push start his or hers creative career (or pay some student loans, LOL!). For more information go to:

New Era Miami hosted local artist LEBO for their hat release collaboration event. There were only 50 hand painted hats available. My favorite was the blue one with the the embossed wings LEBO logo and hand painted brim. Miami Heat’s Dale McLean and Dexter Pittman, Dan Le Batard of ESPN and 790 The Ticket and Darren Brass of Miami Ink stopped by to show support.
