This fun little icecream truck was parked in front of the lobby entrance at the Mondrian Hotel during Art Basel. I don’t have any information on it but it was dope. If anyone know who’s the artist or brand hit me up on twitter @WordInTown. Thanks
There was so much going on during Art Basel it was a challenge to be able to see every installation. The Mondrian hotel had one of my favorite artist, Friends With You. FWY lived in Miami and now have relocated to LA. Here are some images of their magical installation called “Over The Rainbow.”
Heineken’s fourth and final installation of the 2013 #Heineken100 program. This is an exclusive program that celebrates Heniken’s “Man of the World.” The event took place last Thursday, December 5th, during Art Basel in Miami. This final installation featured work by New York artist HAZE, entitled “KEEP IT 100.”
Overseen by #Heineken100 Creative Director Chris Gibbs (owner of West Coast shop UNION Los Angeles), “Keep It 100” is comprised of 100 separate canvases that when pieced together create a larger art piece. The “Keep It 100” premiere at the #Heineken100 event during Art Basel was the first time the public had an opportunity to view Haze’s exclusive artwork. Following its showing at Basel, the “Keep It 100” will be broken down into separate units and distributed to the 100 influencers and tastemakers that comprise the #Heineken100 seeding list.
Thank you Chris Gibbs, Eric Haze and Heineken 100 for your hospitality.

Street artist KAWS is the fifth living artist to have a floating balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The city of New York allowed Macy’s to use one of their trains to market the event. If you’re in New York you can catch the KAWS all over art subway going exclusively from Grand Central 42nd street to Time Square.
Maybe the City of Miami would allow an artist to wrap one of the Metro Rail trains…
Instagram has worked as a platform for many to show their talents to the world. It provides instant approval or disapproval for whatever you post. Santlov has been fully embraced by a worldwide Instagram community. Do you know Santlov? Did you know that in a relatively short time, he has built a loyal following of over 245,000?
Yes, he has done it from right here, Miami. Get Familiar with Santlov.
Santlov, introduce your self:
My name is Santlov. I’m from Miami, not burn but raised an artist trying to push this toy frontier into the world!
I love them! Toys are something we all grew up with. They are something we can all connect with. Toys are my paint!
Everything we see on your Instagram you’ve created?
I conceptualize and set up every scene then I uploaded and see it grow… Right now he is being humble. Most of his post gets thousands of likes… Yep, he is that good!
Is Instagram your main exposure platform at this time?
Yes, most of my work goes directly to Instagram @Santlov. I also use my facebook.com/santlov and twitter as well @Santlov. All my handles are Santlov. If you google Santlov all my images will come up. I try to put up to 3 a day to keep it fresh and moving.
What is your main goal with this amazing work?
I want my prints to be out there in the world. I will become a household name. I want to put a smile on peoples face through my work… I want them to laugh when they look at my images… Forget about everything else they may have going on and just have a good laugh.
This has been a labor of love so if I can make people smile through my work that will give me a sense of satisfaction… Positive vibrations, adding something positive to the world.
Stay tuned for details about SANTLOV’s show during Art Basel 2012 coming next month.
Last Saturday during Art Walk I ventured into a few galleries I had never seen before. Amongst them I visited NOW Contemporary Art. I liked what I came across so I’m going to share it with you. The exhibit is called “RIGID” Graffiti in MIAMI. The installation will be up till October 31st, 2012. Before I forget,NCA is located at 175 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33127.
Last Saturday during Art Walk I was invited to the limited release of Del Toro x A. Mijares slipper collaboration event. Matthew Chevallard Del Toro’s creative director keeps things exiting. This time featuring artist A. Mijares designs on a Del Toro signature Black Slipper. A. Mijares puzzle style skull is a perfect match for the classic silhouette which is available now on their online store.
I have to admit it’s a challenge to visit the Del Toro studio without wanting to buy one of everything…
Thanks to Matt, Mijares, Morgan and the entire Del Toro family for the hospitality.
Artist RETNA is no stranger to the Miami street arts scene. His work has been adorning the streets of Wynwood for quite some time. I stopped by Louis Vuitton new location in the Miami Design District to see him in action.
I saw the opportunity to approach him as he came across the street. With a warm smile I extended my hand to shake his. After I introduced my self we talked about Miami. He said “I love Miami.” We talked a bit more and then he excused himself and went back to work.
I was impressed! Retna is one of the illest street artists in the world. Salute to you RETNA keep blessing our streets with your art. I can’t wait to start my personal RETNA collection. Check out his site HERE

Last Friday Futura stopped in Miami for the release of his Hennessy V.S. bottle collaboration. The bottle released a couple of months earlier in New York. Futura is not new to Miami. His works have been permanently here since the opening of the Wynwood Walls. Hennessy hosted a very special Lunch at Wynwood Kitchen. After lunch local artist Sant Love gave us a tour of the Wynwood Walls.
Thanks Hennessy, Futura and Wynwood Kitchen for such a great event.
