Get Familiar: Priscilla Jade Lingerie

Priscilla Jade is a local Miami lingerie designer who is quickly making her mark in the industry. I recently spent the day with her and it went from interview, to coffee to a psychic reading to a walk in the park with some rain mist. Just as spontaneous as this interview went so is Miss Priscila Jade. This is how our day played out.

When I first arrived to her home/studio we quickly began chatting. I gathered some info about her line and how she got started. Priscilla has always had a passion for lingerie even as a little girl. She would dress up in her moms and dream of the day that she would turn into a woman and be able to wear her own. When she was in high school she and her best friends made a bet on who could go the longest without hooking up with a boy. She wanted the next boy who came around to be special. They came up with a hanky panky ring, which she still wears today. She went the longest (I won’t say how long, haha). While at fashion school she wanted to go back to that innocent time of being a good girl but wanting her naughty side to come out. She loved the name hanky panky but it was already taken, so Priscilla Jade Lingerie was born. After her younger cousin said she looked like one of her Brats dolls, she combined the Priscilla with the Jade.

While she has been doing custom pieces for a while, she came up with her staple design “The Little Black Panty” just as the little black dress that every woman owns. The Little Black Panty comes packaged in a double pack designed by Priscilla Jade herself and it’s great for a weekend getaway.

Her first collection Noir 2011 was a collection based on boyfriend’s past, that’s why it is all black. She chose black because she felt it would be a clean slate all while giving credit to the men in her past that have helped her get to where she is at as a woman today. Each panty is named after an ex or someone she has dated. I’d say these fellas should be flattered. Now going into the Spring Awakening 2012 collection you can expect to see more of a girly feel. The fabrics are all very soft from stretch tulle, stretch charmuse, to lace trimmings and bows. The color ways for the spring collection are yellow, black, teal, red, pink, orange and ivory. This collection is definitely Romantic. As every creative person does PJade designs her collections depending where she is at in her life. She also does custom pieces if you’re ever in the need of something sexy and unique.

Pjade is making moves in her life as a woman and a designer. On Valentine’s Day her Spring Awakening Collection débuted in New York City. She just moved into her new (just moved) old (lived here before) apartment, which is her favorite place she has lived in with her 2 doggies Jagger & Jadelyn. Thanks to her great support system of family and friends she is finding her balance and strength to conquer and grow as a lingerie designer. Her goal is to be in New York growing the line in the next few years. She will definitely have her home in Miami but as a designer New York will be a big career move.

So after we talked for a while about how she got started and where she is at today, we decided to take a walk to the café/book store down the street from where she lives in the grove. We grabbed a table and ordered the same thing a buttery croissant, with a vanilla frap and yes we had the same exact LV purse. Trying to figure out where we should shoot in the grove was going to be a problem due to the rain that is quickly approaching us. We proceeded to take a walk towards Green Street Café, which is adorable to shoot at, and as random and as spontaneous as we both are we got side tracked into a psychic shop and both got a reading. Not going to lie the lady was pretty on point. Ok so we both have to focus, we keep walking towards Green Street and yet again we get side tracked and end up in a park off the water with sailboats and a great landscape for a quick shoot. The rain did not stop us from having a good time and getting our pictures. I must say hanging out with PJade was a fun time.
