Sneaker Pimps has been one of my favorite parties of the year since they started coming to Miami back in 2003. Even though this year was more about Rock The Bells than about sneakers I still had a great time.

As soon as I got in I noticed Sneakerpedia was upstairs so I made my way to their table to see if the Air Safari 87′s Supreme I was wearing had been documented on the site yet. To my surprise, they weren’t in yet. So with the help of the Sneakerpedia people my shoes were added to the archive. Right after I went around to look at the Sneaker Pimps collections. There was only one gate of new kicks…

Then it was time for Rock the Bells to start. Local band ArtOfficial was the opening act ,  Mobb Deep , then Ghost Face and Raekwon from Wu-Tang. They added a little surprise when Cappadona came out. Raekwon and Ghost Face were suposed to go last but at the last minute they changed the schedule. Mobb Deep was the last to perform. I thought that was a bit strange but it all worked out. They were all dope. ArtOfficial really killed it…

The crowd was pretty much all Hip-Hop heads that didn’t seem to care too much about any of the sneakers being displayed on the gates surrounding the Fillmore hallways. For the couple of kids who showed up with sneakers to sell or trade well, they were in for a bit of a surprise. It was not the typical Sneaker Pimps. The event was focused clearly on the Performers. I hope for next year they consider going back to the original format…
