Art Basel 2010 1st Night Out

Art Basel has become one of my favorite times of the year. There are so many things to do… The only problem becomes: where to go first. This year I didn’t make it to a couple of things. One being the KAWS book signing… I also couldn’t get to the Tiger Shoes event or OHWOW gallery and RETNA event. There was just way too many things to do and not enough time… Besides those little set backs I had a great time. I really think ART BASEL should be at least two weeks long…

Our first stop was The ART OF BASKETBALL. The event showcased some of the best Graffiti Artist works on Backboards. After we stopped by the Haiti Art Expo produced by Michael Capponi. We were on our way to the OHWOW Gallery when we decided to go in to the FRIENDS WITH YOU “RAINBOW CITY”. The event was magical. Between the walking plush toys, huge mushrooms and the performance of N.E.R.D well, we ended up staying there. On our way out we bumped in to the dude that all ladies love or love to wear: MR Christian Louboutin… and that was our first night… Werd!

The events started since Tuesday but our first night out was Thursday.

Music Inspires… THE NEW AMERICAN / Fashion – Art – Film – Music / Art Basel 2010

Gorillas in association w/ AE District proudly presents:
MUSIC INSPIRES… THE NEW AMERICAN
Creativity is the manifestation of inspiration, as a by-product of self-expression. At AE District, we believe self-expression is the essence of music and all forms of the creative arts. Music, although a distinctive art form, is widely regarded as a catalyst for artists of all genres. With this project, we will celebrate and highlight that exuberant relationship.
Music Inspires…  is an exhibition and pop-up shop dedicated to examining the intimate relationship that exists between Music and (THE NEW AMERICAN) artists from three diverse mediums. Our goal is to expose the dynamic of how music shapes and inspires the creative process of the New American artist.
Music Inspires… is three-day festival exhibiting works in the fields of Fashion, Art and Film. These featured artists will curate and incorporate a sonic element into their work, focusing on the relationship between their art and the respective soundtrack. Each evening will feature a different medium melding both live and pre-recorded music that will simultaneously alter and enhance the original experience of the artist’s installation.
