When I first heard the name “BUM RUSH THE SPOT” I was in! I didn’t care where it was, I just new I had to be there. So, after a few phone calls I got the spot location.(The contests is word of mouth only. If you don’t know the location you don’t get to go…) When I got there I really didn’t know where to stand. I found my self in the middle of the action. To my advantage I saw Frakie Galland doing his thing (taking photos). I shadowed Frankie for a while. Before I forget Joel Meinholz put it all together. Awesome event Joel!
The place isn’t hard to find but it’s in the middle of the ghetto. That’s why it’s named “GHETTO BANKS”. The people there are actually all good with skaters being there. Cops rolled through 3 or 4 times but nothing… No worries all the cranky people don’t come out till after the sun goes down… Bottom line, it was an amazing skate jam contest. More than 60 people showed up. Not everyone entered the contest or skated but it was a substantial turn out. By the way, the dudes who did skate the spot will agree it’s GNARLY! There were a couple of slams which I was surprised the dudes were not seriously hurt. All I have to say is that a lot of tricks went down…
Amongst the people who came through were: Luis Perez, Josiah Gatlyn, The RipNDip Crew from Orlando, Danny Fuenzalida, Keen One and Cody Lucas just to name a few.
I think this may have been the firs event of its kind in Miami. Keep in mind the next stop of the Series will be at the “JUNGLE DOUBLE SET” October 23rd. Come out and support… Werd!

Sorrowful memories from the death of Turntable genius DJ Roc Raida who past away a year a go. Roc Raida was Busta Rhymes personal DJ. So rather than being despondent DJ KEEN ONE along with the SCRATCH DJ ACADMI did a showcase tribute. To our listening delight DJ CRAZE took part of it along side DJ K RAZOR, IMMORTAL, D DUBBZ, KERR and ROB RIGGS. It was a fun night. Rest in Power Roc Raida! Werd!

Harold Hunter Foundation x DVS Shoes collaboration out just in time for Harold Hunter Day. The event will take place at the Manhattan Bridge Skatepark in NYC, October 10, 2010. The Harold Hunter Foundation helps inner city youth through skateboarding and scholarships, while keeping Harold’s tradition of spreading friendship and creativity through skateboarding. Harold you will always be missed.

Nike SB Blazer Low CS 2011 in two color ways.

That was an era that will never come back. I’m referring to the time in the early 90′s when a lot of the young men who were a major influence on east coast skateboarding were kids. Ari Marcopoulos managed to capture a lot of their images which have become an important part of rebel subculture before it became mainstream. The best way to comprehend it would require to step back in time. For now just go by OHWOW and see the show… Werd!
When I first saw the OTZ-1 Low it reminded me of a covered BirkenStock. I think is something different and innovative. Some times it’s good to step away from the AJ’s, Dunks, AM’s, Vans, etc. Give your feet some real comfort… The shoe comes in a box made out of re-cycled cardboard. It also has a message about the braking in period. The message states that the shoe at first will feel kind of snug. A breaking in period will allow for the cork foot bed to adapt to your foot’s shape. In other words the more you wear the shoe, the more comfortable it will become. The OTZ-1 Low comes in 3 color ways. My favorites are: Red and Grey.
OTZ-1 also makes the RuckSack in ultra rich Red canvas. It’s new design inspired by old style military bags. It features a large draw string opening for easy packing. Superior quality canvas with nude leather trim and a padded side pocket which fits up to 15′ laptop. It kind of reminds me of a less expensive version of the Filson X Vans backpack. Saucony has dropped one of their core Basketball shoes from the mid ’80′s. You may remember these as the Spot-Bilt Hangtime Hi all leather. Hyde Athletic Industries till ’98 who now is Saucony owns Spot Bilt athletics. They could have used the original name but didn’t. I guess in this case HAI (aka Saucony, inc) chose to leave the past in the past. By the way, very few accounts are getting them.

Saturday MIA Skate Shop was the host of the Slow Roast Records Tour stop here in Miami. World renowned DJ’s Craze and Klever killed it. I knew there was going to be some serious music making going down when I saw the GOLD TURN TABLES brought out. By the way the ALIFE crew was on hand giving away goodies. All in all it was another great in store event. Werd!

There was a lot going on this past weekend. Not much different than any other weekend here in Miami. So I decided to go on the hunt for some goods. I stopped by MIA Skate Shop for the Slow Roast Records Tour (photos coming soon) and found this dope must cop snapback. I notice it goes with my Air Max 97′s “Gold Medal” and my Nike SB Dunk HI “Koston’s, so I was psyched! For some reason in the last year I found a new passion (obsession) for hats; therefore, every time a dope color way comes around I cop it. By the way there were only a couple left. I suggest if your are feeling the hat go get it before is gone. Werd!
