The last couple of years TWS has taken different teams through a creative challenge. Each team gets 9 days to come up with a skate video inside a warehouse. Each team gets a photographer, art director, obstacles and video crew. At the end of the 9 days TransWorld picks a winner. The winner gets the cover and automatically enters onto next years Skate & Create contest. Each team consist of 4 pros and 2 ams. This year my favorite video was the Lakai team with Ty Evans as the director. Watch all the videos and see which one you like best after the click. Werd!
I remember the first time I saw a pair of “Janoski’s”, I was not impressed. It took me a minute to get in to them, to say the least. Now, it’s one of my favorites. The “Janoski” reminds me of a boat shoe. It’s mad comfortable and if your are planing on skating it most likely you will need a half size smaller. The shoe stretches like crazy. Regardless it’s a well put together shoe.
This new color way will be out some time in the fall. Till then look at these photos and start adding things to your wish list.
I love to shop. I do it every chance I get. I visit Luxury stores, Independent stores, Boutiques, etc. I like to see what’s out there. I’ve learned to stay fresh without having to go broke. Lets face it, every week a new shoe drop’s. Some are must have’s and some are just plain horrible. Keeping that in mind being a shoe head, collector or whatever you want to call it, can get quite expensive; moreover, there are way too many releases to try keeping up.
So I’ve taken it upon my self to show you where to find good products at reasonable prices while still being able to support our local retailers. Thewordintown.com is all about supporting our local businesses. Werd!
Photography by May MaySo many shoes not enough demand (no buyers)! Mark downs are everywhere…
For the most part Lazaro may seem like he is over it most of the time; however, once you get to know him you realize that he is a good dude. Laz has crazy style and skates fast. While talking to him I realize how much skate knowledge he has. The dude knows his shit. I got to ask him a few questions and here is what he had to say:

OHWOW always brings something unexpected and new to its audience. So when I saw the title “DADARHEA” my mind didn’t know what to make of it. The only thing I knew for a fact is that it would be an entertaining experience. Here is list of the artist involved: Devin Flynn, Jim Drain, Naomi Fisher, Ara Peterson, Joe Grillo, Takeshi Murata, Francine Speigel, Melissa Brown, Marie Lorenz, Todd James, Brian Belott, Jessie Gold, Michael Williams, Erin Krause, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Jen Stark, Friends With You, Billy Grant, Laura Grant, Alison Kuo, & Eric Fensler. There was moving art sculptures created by Jen Stark, Alvaro Ilizarbe and Friends With You.
OHWOW has been one of the places in Miami who have made it okay for people who may not know anything about art or what is art to expand their horizon while understanding that art is in the eye of the beholder. In other words, is all good. Come through the gallery and get cultured on something new. Werd!
Fortitude, Will, Intrepidity are all words that fully embody ADIDAS. No matter what is going on they always find a way to bring us something new. I’m feeling the Adidas-Fortitude-Mid. The shoe is light and comfortable. The Fortitude is a perfect blend between a boot and sneaker. I feel that some times is good to step away from the usual while trying something new. I’m psyched ADIDAS is always willing to push things a little farther. Werd!

It all went down this Sunday at MIA Skate Park. Skaters were extra psyched to skate for Tum Yeto prices and a chance to win $100 for Best Trick sponsored by The Word in Town. There was a lot of talent with kids like Luis, Leo, Rene, Lazaro, Austin to just name a few. The competion was tuff.
This time Luis Perez came on top with two perfect runs. Also a young man to keep an eye on by the name of Austin. He had two perfect runs but was not able to keep it going for the final jam session. Right after the final Best Trick went down. Everyone skated extra hard but at the end Guiri, Leo and Luis were in the money. It was hard to award all the money to one person. A lot of tricks went down. Take a look at some of the photos after the click. Werd!
During the past year Miami has added a place were art meets affordable drinks in a relaxed atmosphere for anyone to enjoy. The place is called BAR 28ne14st in Miami. BAR has become a locals personal favorite. It has brought us an array of artist like Todd James (REAS), Freegums and Mike Del Marmol. On Monday night’s party “Locals Only” it was Cody Hudson’s turn. A Chicago artist who has collaborated with brands such as Stussy, Adidas and Nike just to name a few now has added a little of his vision to our back yard. The name of the show is: “WILL YOU TEXT ME WHEN YOU GET THERE SO I KNOW YOU DIDN’T DIE”. Werd!

In the past few weeks I got to hang with one of the most humble yet stylish skaters I’ve had the honor to befriend, my homie Rene Perez. He is always down to skate. Being my inquisitive self I asked him a few questions and here is what he had to say:
